Two people have been charged and remain in custody in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man from the Pembroke area.
Police say that on July 23, 2023, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to assist Renfrew County Paramedics at a residence on Pembroke Street East in Pembroke, where they found Chance Turcott dead.
Today (April 4), officials announced that Donald Wesley Sullivan, 35, of Pembroke, was arrested March 19, and Taylor Hein, 37, of Ottawa, was arrested April 3. Both have been charged with manslaughter and trafficking in a schedule I substance – fentanyl. The charges have not been proven in court.
Both accused remain in custody following bail hearings held today (April 4) at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. Sullivan is scheduled to appear again on April 9, while Hein is scheduled to make another appearance on April 18.
According to an OPP press release, the charges were laid following an extensive investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), and in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.
