Today we continue our presentation on Convergence Design Services of Arnprior, through an on-site interview recorded with president Ben Seamen who returned to assume the role in 2019, marking his second stint with the firm.
Convergence is located at 204 William Street West in Arnprior; “taking thought to finished product”.
Ben’s experience with JDS Uniphase, Honeywell Aerospace and Curtiss-Wright Defence Solutions led to Convergence diversifying its revenue streams, with two other business units in addition to its traditional Riverwood Acoustics mainstay.
One of the growth areas is with EV ATV’s.
The EV and Space Business Units have meant a rapid increase in profitability.
As we say goodbye to carburetor -based conveyances, EV growth is inevitable.
Despite a growth rate exceeding 100 percent per annum, Convergence profits are reinvested in the firm to grow the firm.
Ben says growing a business is much like raising a child- but there are trends he’d like to see reversed.
It means that even should Convergence’ pioneering work in EV development meet its potential, the product would likely be assembled elsewhere in the Province.
Ben Seaman would like to see a business community unite around tech opportunities, as the Valley has so much potential for greater self-expression.
