The Town of Renfrew will learn the rest of the story when it comes to the Ma-te-Way Expansion project.
Tammy Carruthers with WSCS Consulting will return to Town Hall on Thursday to present the second half of their findings from the third-party review of the project, which initial reports reveal was plagued by lengthy delays and a ballooning budget due to a number of issues.
Carruthers presented the firm’s initial findings to council back in December, pointing to a number of root causes, including a lack of political and organizational oversight, incomplete or unsigned contracts, poor reporting from the contractor, no risk management assessment being completed, and a lack of a project manager to keep things in check.
The audit was broken up into two reports so that the town could get an outline of the underlying problems with the project as soon as possible, with WSCS following up on the remaining interviews and the now-available full-cost analysis for the new facility.
Town council will sit for a closed session this morning at 8:30 a.m., before a public hearing at 1:30 p.m.
