A lack of ice in Richmond means the Junior B Playoffs have to change on the fly.
Renfrew Timberwolves owner Ryan Leonard says the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League is fixing a slight error that saw their first round matchup against the Richmond Royals overlap with the second round of the playoffs by realigning the series to wrap up by Friday at the latest.
The issue is that the Richmond Memorial Centre will not be able to get their ice pad ready by this evening. So, in order to correct the issue, the Timberwolves will now host the Royals at the myFM Centre tonight at 8:45 p.m.
Leonard says there’s not much anyone can do about the situation.
He’s hopeful the Renfrew faithful will be able to make it to the myFM Centre to enjoy the third game of a series that has been evenly matched since the start of the season.
The series heads into the newly minted Monday night matchup tied at 1-1, with Renfrew coming home on the heels of a 6-3 win in Richmond on Sunday evening.
It’s the first round of playoff games the Timberwolves have seen since Leonard purchased the club four seasons ago.
