The Township of Horton will wrap up this year’s Winter Carnival schedule with one last party over the weekend.
You’re invited to the Horton Community Centre on Castleford Road this Saturday, starting with a signature $12 shanty breakfast with pancakes, sausage, baked beans, homefries, toast and eggs that morning at 8:00, and featuring family shinny and skating, sleigh rides, kids games, and more.
Township Administrative and Finance Assistant Amanda Ryan says the event always shows off the unwavering support the community has for itself, even if the weather doesn’t always cooperate.
Ryan explains that the Township has gradually shifted the day of the event into early March as way to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the full slate of Winter festivities across the Valley before ending the season in their neighborhood.
The Horton Winter Carnival is a cash only event that sends its proceeds back into the township, with a 50/50 draw and a number of raffle prizes for you to enter in for.
Ryan says they are always looking for volunteers for the Winter Carnival and events that happen year round, and you can contact the Township office to find out how to help.
