On paper, it was probably the most challenging weekend the Renfrew Wolves had on this year’s schedule.
However, they were undaunted by facing some of the CCHL’s top teams, sweeping through the weekend to bring their winning streak to 11 games.
The Wolves’ first stop saw them travel to Navan on Friday, where they outgunned the league-leading Navan Grads, 8-6. Noah Vom Scheidt continued to impress in his return to the club, scoring four goals. Mathieu Paquin, Kai Billey, Jace Letourneau, and Henry Wilson also scored, as goaltender Slava Gordiechuk did enough to keep his team in the lead, stopping 34 shots on 40 attempts.
The high-event game would not affect Renfrew on Saturday, as they returned to the myFM Centre to beat the Carleton Place Canadians, 4-2. The Wolves would rely on their secondary scoring unit in the victory, with Ethan Smith, Wyatt Hicock, Kai Billey, and Austin Fellinger providing the offense. Nolan Lane would stop 32 of 34 shots faced for his sixth win of the year.
The Wolves will get some much-needed rest ahead of their next game on Thursday, January 26th, when they play the Canadians in Carleton Place. Game time is 7:45 p.m., and you can hear the action starting with the pre-game show at 7:30 p.m. on 96.1 myFM.
