Make it nine wins in a row for the Renfrew Wolves, as the team fought an early deficit to come back and beat the Colts in Cornwall on Thursday night.
Cornwall would jump out to a 3-0 lead after the first period, but Ethan Smith, Jace Letourneau, Mathieu Paquin, Jack Dolan, and Andrew Morton would all contribute for the Wolves in the win.
It was an odd night for goaltenders on both ends, as Renfrew would pull Nolan Lane midway through the first after allowing three goals on eight attempts. Viacheslav Gordiechuk would hold the Colts scoreless on 25 shots to close the game. On the other end, Xander Miceli was pulled partway through the second period after allowing four goals on 25 attempts in favour of Donald Hickey.
The win keeps Renfrew on pace with the Robinson Division-leading Smiths Falls Bears, with both teams equal at 43 points. Renfrew also holds the fifth seed in the league as the playoffs inch closer.
The Wolves head back on the road this evening, Friday, January 19th, for a game with the league-leading Navan Grads. 96.1 myFM’s broadcast of the game is scheduled for tonight, starting with the pre-game show at 7:20 p.m. Although it is not expected to cause issues, our ongoing move into the myFM Centre could cause interruptions to the broadcast.
