As part of the annual Frew Fest Winter Carnival, Community Living Renfrew County South (CLRCS) and the Icepickers Sledge team are offering an opportunity to try the sport.
All ages and abilities are invited to drop by the myFM Centre on Feb. 19 at 9:30 a.m. to try sledging. Minimum equipment is required.
The Icepickers recently helped the town celebrate the opening of the second ice pad at the myFM Centre at Ma-te-Way Park.
Former CLRCS employee and current volunteer Allan Yull, along with his outreach group, attended various committee and town meetings to promote the idea of making the new ice pad accessible to include sledging.
On March 14, the Icepickers are celebrating 20 years of sledging in Renfrew, along with Community Living Renfrew County South’s 60th anniversary. A friendly game of sledging will be hosted at 11 a.m. followed by free hot dogs and hot chocolate. Anyone interested in trying sledging and being part of the game is asked to arrive by 10:15 a.m. with minimum equipment required.
