The Town of Renfrew expects road maintenance to go a little longer than expected in the wake of the winter storm blowing through the Ottawa Valley.
Town staff declared a significant weather event ahead of heavy snow that started on Tuesday afternoon and the potential for freezing rain overnight, and have suggested that people who need to be on local roads and sidewalks on Wednesday morning should be cautious.
Crews are preparing to plow, sand, and salt the entire town, starting with major arterial roads, sidewalks, intersections, and crosswalks, before moving to collector streets and school crossings, and finally residential and dead-end roads.
Overnight parking restrictions are still in effect, and any vehicle that interferes with the road cleaning effort risks fines or having their car towed at their own expense.
