The crew at Renfrew Victoria Hospital will not have much time to catch their breath after a busy 2023.
Hospital President and CEO Julia Boudreau says the past year saw them expand their assisted living services, make a number of staff and physician hires, renovate the pharmacy department, and proudly earn accreditation for a number of their services and programs by meeting or exceeding provincial benchmarks for care.
She adds that there is one big project she’s eager to begin in 2024.
Another ongoing project has been their Emergency Department, which Boudreau and RVH admit has needed a facelift after 20 years in use.
Boudreau tells myFM that work to refresh the space continued in 2023, and 2024 will see those improvements go beyond the surface level.
Last year was also a success for RVH’s recruiting efforts, as Boudreau says their human resources department likely worked through more job postings in 2023 than in many other years.
A big focus for the hospital heading into 2024 is to continue finding ways to make the hospital attractive to staff and physicians looking to move locally.
RVH was also able to achieve designation under the French Language Services Act in 2023, allowing them to offer several services in French for patients coming in from across the Ottawa River.
