The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario is expressing its pleasure that the Province of Ontario is investing in excess of $40.5 million to increase access to pediatric services in CHEO’s catchment area.
The move is part of the Government’s announced additional $330 million per annum investment
$40.5 million boost in funding to expand pediatric services in Ottawa and the surrounding area in pediatric health services at hospitals and community-based health care facilities across Ontario.
The $40.5 million in additional funding will support programs and services at CHEO, its Children’s Treatment Centre and the Kid’s Come First Health Team.
Examples include increasing the number of surgeries performed to reduce surgical wait times and backlogs, connecting children and youth to faster access to MRI and CT scans, reducing ED wait times by adding rapid access clinics, adding beds and staff for inpatient post-operative rehabilitation care, and implementing an immunization catch-up program.
As well, There will be increased access for youth mental health supports to deal with eating disorders and help kids deal with cancer and greater access to children’s rehabilitation services, including occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech and language services.
