A regional insurance company is looking after its own.
The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group is proud to service the smaller places and wide-open spaces of Eastern, Central and Western Ontario and is in the third year of offering LEAF ((Learning and Engagement Accelerator Fund) grants to communities in its Catchment area.
The program enables programs and projects in Ontario that support learning on a local level.
For 2023, The Commonwell will invest $350,000.00 into exceptional, community-led initiatives, in amounts ranging from 10k to 50 thousand dollars.
While many apply (70 applications totalling 2.7 million in requests) few are chosen.
The local insurer has announced 11 community projects that will be funded by their $350,000 annual Learning and Engagement Accelerator Fund (L.E.A.F.)
Congratulations to successful applicants in the listening area: Almonte, Ginawaydaganuc Academy Building Regenerative Futures; Lanark, Expanding and Enhancing Stem Education in Lanark Highlands Public Library;
Pembroke, Tech Forward Learning and Smiths Falls, Outfitting the Falls Food Hub Kitchen.
Says Tim Shauf, President and CEO of The Commonwell, “As a member-based mutual insurance company we have a proud heritage of giving back.”
