This year’s Gourley’s Outdoors Deer Hunting Contest has put together some big results for local charities.
The contest wrapped up over the weekend, with 1497 contestants bagging 160 deer in total. Some of the top bucks that were taken down weighed in at over 226 pounds.
The event was used to raise $17,000 for Hospice Renfrew, supporting end-of-life care for patients across Renfrew County.
A barbeque hosted by the Backyard Gourmet and bake sale held during the event were also able to raise $4130 for Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s oncology department.
If all that wasn’t enough, Gourley’s also held a 50/50 draw, which brought in $1032 for the Renfrew Fish and Game Club.
Gourley’s, which sits along Highway 132 on the outskirts of Renfrew, is sending out a thank you to the sponsors, customers, and contestants who took part.
They say that “it takes a great community to help achieve such success.”
