The Renfrew Wolves would need every tally that Jace Letourneau and company could muster in Sunday night’s 6-5 win over the Kemptville 73’s inside the North Grenville Municipal Centre.
The Wolves entered the weekend on some unexpected extra rest after having to postpone their annual High School Night at the myFM Centre on Thursday when the bus carrying the Brockville Braves into town broke down. That game will be made up at a later date.
The extended wait between games was not enough to cool down Letourneau, however, as he put up his second four-goal outing in as many games to keep the game out of reach from the 73’s as Kemptville fell just short of sending the game to overtime.
Dane Carter and Max Gorzelnik added goals for Renfrew, as goaltender Nolan Lane stopped 33 of 38 shots to hold on for his second win of the season.
The win pulls the Wolves into a tight race early in the season, with just a two-point swing between Renfrew, the Perth Lumber Kings, the Carleton Place Canadians, and Kemptville in the fight for second place in the Robinson Division.
It won’t be an easy climb up the standings for Renfrew this Saturday, November 18th, when they welcome the division-leading Smiths Falls Bears to the myFM Centre inside Ma-te-Way Park. Game time is at 7:30 p.m.
