Quebec has declared a concerted effort to take on reckless driving behaviours between now (November 10th), and next Thursday (November 16th).
the initiative involves all of the police services in the Province, as well as traffic controllers with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).
In addition to the roadside interventions, there’s a companion social media awareness campaign, aiming to remind road users of the importance of respecting the Road Safety Code at all times.
Reckless behaviours consist of several acts made by road users that, in addition to being annoying to others can also endanger their safety.
Some facts to chew on include a knowledge that from 2020 to 2022, reckless behavior was present in fully half of collisions involving bodily harm. This is up from the 47% which happened from 2010 to 2012.
Factors include failure to yield, running a red light or stop sign and following too closely.
