Help the Town of Renfrew ring in the holiday season by adding a float to the upcoming Santa Claus Parade!
The parade will roll through the downtown core on Saturday, December 2nd, and the Community Outreach Specialist for the town, Janyne Fraser, is encouraging community members building floats to let her know as soon as possible.
It will be carte blanche for float-makers this year, as Fraser says that, outside of the general holiday motif, the town is using feedback from previous years to give local community members space to get creative with what rolls through downtown Renfrew.
She says that volunteers are also needed to help with staging and directing floats through the parade route, as well as with the afterparty at the Argyle Street Rec Centre.
Either way you want to take part, it all gets started by getting in contact with Janyne by email at jfraser@renfrew.ca.
The Santa Claus Parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd, at the Armouries Building on Veterans Memorial Blvd. and roll through downtown on Raglan Street South before ending at Munroe Avenue. Staging of the floats will happen outdoors at the Armouries, and they must be ready to depart by 5:30 p.m. that evening.
Fraser says it’s free to register a float, with sign-up sheets available on the Town of Renfrew website. Floats will not be judged this year as the event is just to show off some community spirit during the holiday season.
