It was a tale of two extremes for the Renfrew Wolves this past weekend.
The Wolves split a pair of weekend games at the myFM Centre in Ma-Te-Way Park, starting off with a 7-2 loss to the Navan Grads on Friday, November 3rd, where the Grads would fire off four unanswered goals to start the second period and continue to pressure the Wolves in their own zone into the closing minutes of the match.
Jace Letourneau would open scoring for Renfrew halfway through the first period, and Ethan Smith would add his first goal of the season to keep Renfrew in the game late into the second. Wolves goaltender Nolan Lane made 27 saves on 31 shots before being pulled for Viacheslav Gordiechuk to start the third period.
After the drubbing, Renfrew would use their game against the Ottawa Jr. Senators on Saturday, November 4th, to flip the script and cruise to a 7-1 win.
Jace Letourneau made his presence known again by scoring four goals, including two on the powerplay. Wolves captain Andrew Morton and Nathan Pelletier would add tallies of their own to cap off a big win. Renfrew’s defense would limit the Jr. Senators to just 7 shots in each period, making for an easy night for Viacheslav Gordiechuk, who stopped 20 of 21 shots.
The Wolves will welcome the Brockville Braves to the myFM Centre for a rare Thursday game on November 9th. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
