Renfrew OPP is reminding you that help is available for people living in or involved in abusive relationships.
This comes after officers in Renfrew and Arnprior investigated 12 domestic disputes last week, laying charges in five cases:
- One accused was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.
- One accused was charged with mischief under $5000.
- One accused was charged with two counts of assault.
- One accused was charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
- One accused was charged with one count of assault, two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking, and one count of failing to comply with a probation order.
Renfrew OPP says that support, advice, and shelter can be found 24/7 by calling the Bernadette McCann House at 1-800-267-4930.
Victim Services of Renfrew County is available to provide emotional and practical assistance to people who have experienced domestic violence. They can be reached toll-free at 1-877-568-5730.
24/7 information and support for people in an abusive relationship is also provided by the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County at 1-800-663-3060.
Every hospital in Renfrew County is also staffed by an assault response team that can be accessed by visiting the emergency department and asking to speak with them.
In an emergency, police say to call 9-1-1.
