Renfrew OPP will be putting a new twist on a familiar donation drive, all in support of local animal shelters.
Community Safety Officer Brianna Roberge tells us that they will be cramming the cruiser at the Renfrew Pet Valu on O’Brien Road this Saturday, October 14th, collecting pet food for a pair of local animal rescue agencies.
She says that our local police have crammed the cruiser for everything from the holiday season to back-to-school, but putting the event on in support of our furry friends will be a first for them.
All cat food brought in between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday will go directly towards CARE Animal Rescue, with all of the dog food donated during the day helping the efforts of Riverview Rescues.
Whatever you are thinking of bringing in, Sgt. Roberge asks you to treat it like you would for any other food drive.
It’s not only a great opportunity to help the people who foster rescue animals ahead of adoption, but Sgt. Roberge adds that you will get the chance to meet some adorable guests and maybe even make a friend.
She adds that the event is also another chance for residents to meet with and learn more about our local police force in a casual setting.
