The town of Renfrew has opened cooling stations to help local residents handle the heatwave. The Renfrew Public Library is open from Monday to Saturday and the Ma-te-Way Activity Centre is open from 7am until 10pm daily.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Town of Renfrew with maximum temperatures of 29 to 34 degrees Celsius and humidex values near 40. The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) says people at risk of extreme heat events include older adults, infants, young children, people with chronic illnesses, people who work or exercise outdoors, people who experience homelessness and people who experience low-income.
