Sandi Heins returns to Renfrew Town Council on Tuesday, August 29th, this time on behalf of the Friends of the Caboose Group.
A familiar face made her return to Renfrew Town Council ahead of an important date.
Former Mayor and Councilor Sandi Heins joined Doug and Gladys Sidock from the Friends of the Caboose Group on Tuesday, August 29th, to announce that the historic O’Brien Road Caboose is through another phase of its ongoing makeover.
They also put plans in motion for a celebration later this year.
Council approved the motion to approve Caboose Day right away to help the group meet a strict time crunch for planning.
Fundraising has been ongoing to pay back a $33,000 advance from the town to repaint the caboose last year.
Mayor Tom Sidney noted that the people leading the way on that fundraising have proven well versed on the town’s history after a recent meeting with them.
Heins says that they will be back in Council on September 12th with more details on Caboose Day and the festivities that will make up the event when it takes over Howard K. Haramis Park and the Renfrew Visitors Information Centre on October 14th.
