As if the prospect of multi varieties of butter tarts is not enough to lure you to Robert Simpson Park this Saturday, Arnprior Rotary’s second annual “Tarts and Arts in the Park Festival” is a magical agglomeration of fun and fantasy, according to Rotarian Vila Smith.
Heidi and Ron Martin have created a giant tea pot that will be put together on site to bolster the madcap mood.
Vila says there’s a range of activities under the Tarts and Arts umbrella.
There’s musical entertainment for Andy Stokes (10AM-11:30), Yoga in the Park with Union 108 (10-10:45AM), Bug-a-bug, Face Painting and Ray’s Reptiles occupy the slot from 10AM to Noon.
The Rotarian says if your primary interest is the butter tarts, the earlier you get there, the better.
Vila says there are more recipes for butter tarts than are apparent in the debate of “raisins or no raisins”.
Consistent with the theme of “Through the Looking Glass”, vendors who dress in costume and spiff up their booths are eligible for a discount.
Afternoon events from 2-4 include balloon animals, Birthday Party Magic, puppet making, a quilt display and the Looking Glass Photo booth.
The silent auction will be held around 3:30PM- and the event is the same day as the Town’s Cultural Night Market, so Vila says, make a day of it in Arnprior this Saturday.
