The Forest Lea Endurorun Mountain Bike Race returns for the second annual Water and Dirt Festival here in the Pembroke. The Race sign-in kicks off bright and early this Sunday at 8am with the 27km bike starting at 10, the 10km starting at 10:30, and a kids 3km race at 10:45. myFM spoke with Myles Johnson of Gearheads about the race, and what the community can look forward to this weekend.
With such a strong community of active outdoor enthusiasts, Johnson shed some light on the festivals very fresh history, and how beneficial the time of year is for hitting the trails.
It’s a great way to get outside and really take in some of the activities, Johnson early is making early sign in at Riverside Saturday night during the Concert taking place around 6pm. Last minute sign ups that night or day of are cash payment only, swag bags and shirt sizing are not guaranteed, but they would be still eligible for draw prizes after the race.
The race wouldn’t be possible without a powerful supporting staff of volunteers like Myles, but it’s also thanks to their sponsors from right here in the community The title Sponsor for the events is Alice General Store with secondary sponsors being Norco, Specialized, Giant, Home Depot Pembroke, Muc-off, White Pine Yoga, Redneck Brewing Company, Gearheads, Forest Lea Trails Association, Laurentian Valley Township, and CNL.
Both the run and mountain bike events have proceeds going to the Forest Lea Trails Association to help fund trail maintenance and signage, so don’t put it off, get your gears tuned for the Endurorun Mountain Biking Race at Forest Lea this weekend!
