The Ottawa Valley is home to one of Canada’s top young cattle farmers.
Emily Bromley of Renfrew’s Fondoak Farm has been named a semi-finalist in the Canadian Cattle Association’s Young Leaders program after her written application impressed the judges.
Her next step is an in-person gathering for judged roundtable discussions at the Canadian Beef Industry Conference, coming up on August 15th in Calgary.
If she’s able to win over the selection committee next month, Emily will earn herself a nine-month internship with an industry leader in her specific field and much more as the CCA looks to build the next generation within Canada’s beef industry.
With a big opportunity in her sights, Emily is relying on her support system as she prepares to compete with 23 other promising youth from across Canada.
She’s thankful for the sponsors of the Young Leaders program who are making sure all the semi-finalists are able to make it to Calgary, as well as everyone locally who’s been there to encourage her passion.
Bromley says public perception is the biggest issue the beef industry is facing right now, and she wants to use the travel budget that the Young Leaders program would grant her to promote its role in Canada’s biodiversity.
