The Renfrew Public Library unveiled a new installation just in time for the end of Pride Month.
A commemorative Pride-coloured bench sitting just outside the building along Raglan Street made its debut this past Wednesday, June 28th.
Emily Krosse, programmer and marketing coordinator for the Library, says it’s been in the works for some time.
She adds that putting the bench in plain view on the downtown strip is about making the library a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
Reception for the rainbow-themed bench has been positive so far, as Krosse says the library is committed to adding more symbols of diversity in the near future.
If you would like to help make those plans a reality, all you need to do is get in touch by phone, email, or in person.
The new Pride Bench comes hot on the heels of another installation promoting a message of social equality just one week prior in Low Square.
Town staff and Indigenous members of the community unveiled their own commemorative bench symbolizing reconciliation on National Indigenous Peoples Day.
