A major construction project just off the downtown strip in Renfrew will begin in earnest on Monday, June 12th.
Town staff are advising that Lochiel Street from Munroe Avenue West to Patrick Avenue will be closed to traffic for the coming weeks as construction crews tear out the section of road to replace the watermain underneath.
The team will also be stripping the asphalt and removing the sidewalks, which will be redone once the new watermain is in the ground.
This progress comes as the installation of temporary watermains and exploratory work on the existing infrastructure continue.
It’s all part of a major, multi-year project for the Town of Renfrew, which is replacing watermains on Lochiel Street and the nearby Argyle Street, as well as parts of both Hall Avenue and Opeongo Road.
If you have any concerns related to the project or require special accessibility accommodations, you can reach out to project manager Connor Jamieson by email.
The Town of Renfrew is thanking residents in advance for their patience and cooperation with the work about to be done.
