The Mayor of Greater Madawaska says if not officially “under control”, the situation with the Centennial Lake Fire in his township is at least getting in hand.
Rob Weir says firefighters from communities to the west have joined local crews in containment efforts, and even some not customarily involved have offered help.
The Greater Madawaska Mayor was asked how many people have been impacted by the blaze.
The precautionary evacuation order has been extended into Wednesday, for Black Mountain Estate, Little Bay Lane and Airds Lake Rd, behind and including Snider’s Tent and Trailer Park.
Mayor Weir has no patience for extra vehicular traffic caused by the gawkers.
Weir would like to put the fire in the past tense, but we can’t get ahead of ourselves.
The Greater Madawaska Mayor expects plenty of debriefings when the proper time comes.
