Wildfires across the region have smoked out a few local minor sports leagues.
Renfrew Minor Baseball President Kasia Maves says their board is working with the Renfrew County District Health Unit and other nearby Little League associations to make the best decisions for their athletes while the Ottawa Valley deals with diminished air quality thanks to the smoke pouring out of nearby forest fires.
Day-by-day updates regarding the status of games this week will be made regularly through their social media accounts.
Elsewhere, the entire Valley United Soccer League schedule was cancelled on Monday, including Renfrew Minor Soccer.
VUSL President Cheryl Smith says each of the five local clubs under the league’s supervision will decide if local games run while the smoke lingers, with local updates on both the Renfrew Minor Soccer Facebook page as well as their own.
