Greater Madawaska is posting updates regarding the Centennial Lake Fire, which began on the lake Sunday and then expanded to the shore.
At this time 50 hectares of land is affected, and the Township Fire Department is working with the MNRF to assess and extinguish the blaze, including coordinating the use of water bombers.
In conjunction with the OPP, seasonal residents have been removed under a 24 hour evacuation notice, and pre-cautionary evacuation areas now include Black Mountain Estates, Little Bay Lane, and Aird’s Lake Road (including Snider’s Tent and Trailer Park).
Residents that require assistance related the wildfire should contact the Township office during regular office hours 830AM to 4PM and after hours please forward concerns by email to cao@greatermadawaska.com
The Township remains in a LEVEL 2 FIRE BAN; there is no burning of any kind allowed.
It remains critical that residents and by-standers remain clear of the scene to allow teams to do the work they need.
