
If you’ve had a pile of dead AA batteries sitting around all winter, you can now get rid of them safely.
Renfrew’s Bruce Street landfill has reopened the Household Hazardous Waste Depot, which will be taking a wide range of otherwise tough to dispose of items throughout the summer months.
It’s a free service from the Town for it’s residents as well people from neighbouring municipalities such as Arnprior, McNab-Braeside, Horton, Admaston/Bromley, Addington Highlands and Greater Madawaska.
The Bruce Street location opens on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 8:00am to 4:00pm, as well as 8:00am to 7:00pm on Thursdays until it shuts down again on Saturday, August 26th.
Items currently being accepted by the depot include:
- Paints: All Types of Paint, Stains, Varnish, spray paint, etc.
- Solvents: Turpentine, Disinfectants, Household Cleaners, Bleach, Oven And Drain Cleaners, Furniture Stripper, Ammonia, etc.
- Herbicides, Pesticides and Insecticides, Weed Killer, etc.
- Pool cleaners
- Propane Tanks
- Batteries: Small Standard, Button, Small Tool, Car and Boat Batteries.
- Automotive Fluids: Used Oil, Brake Fluid, Gasoline, Anti-Freeze, etc.
- Oil filters
- Oil containers (empty or containing oil)
- Light Bulbs and Tubes (all types except PCB ballasts)
- Fire Extinguishers
- Aerosols
- Non-refillable pressurized containers: Acetylene, Refrigerant, Propane, Helium, & CO2 cylinders.
- Pharmaceuticals/Medication (No needles)
- Mercury Bulb Thermostats and Switches
