Did you know that smoke alarms need to be replaced every ten years?
Renfrew’s Fire Department is teaming up with the local Pizza Hut for their Door to Door Smoke Alarm Campaign, which starts Monday, May 1st, and runs through Sunday, May 7th.
Madhu Pothuraju, one of the two operators at Renfrew’s Pizza Hut, tells myFM that they’ve been looking to give back to the community since they opened back in November, and the perfect opportunity came during a chat with Fire Chief Mike Guest.
His fellow operator, Arpit Amin, says Chief Guest gave them some pretty shocking numbers to explain just how important this initiative is.
Firefighters will be going door to door in Renfrew this week, talking to residents about fire safety in the home while also checking and replacing any old smoke and carbon monoxide alarms you might have.
Meanwhile, Madhu says they’ll be raising funds to help with each pizza that comes out of their oven.
From May 1st to May 7th, $5 from every pizza sold will go towards making sure the Fire Department visits as many homes in the area as possible.
The fundraiser does not include any of their family deals, like the Triple Threat Box or My Box meals.
