Dozens of workers with the Public Service Alliance of Canada have set up picket lines around Garrison Petawawa this week. myFM news has been told there were a few close cases of union members on the picket line being hit by passing vehicles. Steve Yashinskie, a member with the union in Petawawa tells us that most of the support has been positive.
The union says they are continuing to fight for higher wages to keep up with inflation. Yashinskie says they plan to stay on the picket line around Garrison Petawawa until a new contract has been reached.
Major traffic delays are expected at the entrances of the Garrison, however union members say for the most part, they’ve been well supported by the military.
