Major flooding is still expected along parts of the Ottawa River.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has extended its flood warning for the area to Friday, April 28th.
They say this year’s rapid melt of heavy snowpack along uncontrolled branches of the river, as well as heavy rain in the forecast this weekend, will likely cause water levels to exceed the thresholds for major flooding along the Ottawa River at Lake Coulonge near Westmeath and downstream towards Arnprior.
The conditions are also expected to create minor flooding in the Pembroke area.
The Ministry says that residents near the Ottawa River who have dealt with high water and flow conditions before should secure and protect any vulnerable property.
They’re also asking both residents and visitors close to the river to maintain close supervision of children and pets.
