As Township of Whitewater Region prepares under an region-wide flood warning, one road has already been shut down.
Township staff say that two feet of water is currently flowing over the road past 81 Greatview Trail.
The road extends along the side of the Ottawa River near Westmeath Provincial Park and has been closed to all traffic with no emergency access or any word on when it could reopen.
The news comes as Whitewater Region has made sand and sandbags available at a number of locations for residents in particularly flood prone areas, including at:
- Sunset Trail,
- McWitt Trail,
- Sandpoint Trail,
- Greenway Drive at Coulonge Lake Trail, and
- Hilltop Drive
