Julie "Juls" Tower gets ready to lower herself off the Confederation Bridge in the finale of Canada's Ultimate Challenge.
Was Renfrew-born Julie Tower able to conquer Canada’s Ultimate Challenge?
Julie and Team Orange had dominated in the CBC-produced obstacle course race across the country right up to the final episode, where they squared off with Team Black.
Whether lobster fishing off the Confederation Bridge, mud-sliding at Hopewell Rocks, or dangling off the cliff face of Cape Enrage, “Juls” credits her teammates and coach, Olympian speed skater Gilmore Junio, for staying strong in the face of adversity.
The competition proved to be an emotional rollercoaster for Julie, as the 46-year-old auto worker and fitness competitor battled injury and fatigue to push towards the finish line with her team.
She says it all bubbled to the surface during the show’s climactic ending in the Maritimes.
The two teams left to take on the final challenges were fighting for a trip to Paris to take in the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympic Games, and Juls says that the finale has already left it’s mark with viewers.
Usually a solo competitor, Juls says the friendships she’s built with the rest of Team Orange has taught her to trust and rely on the people around her and to not be afraid to share the brunt of the load when faced with a challenge.
You can stream every episode of Julie’s journey through Canada’s Ultimate Challenge right now on CBC Gem.
