The County of Renfrew has declared a Significant Weather Event, fulfilling a legal requirement in Ontario.
The Weather Reporting station for Petawawa is under a Freezing Rain Warning, and the Upper Tier indicates that the Significant Weather Event will impact travel and services throughout the municipality.
A Significant Weather Event means that an approaching or occurring weather hazard has the potential to pose significant danger to highways users within the jurisdiction.
The declaration suspends the standard timelines required to meet published winter maintenance objectives until the municipality declares the Significant Weather Event as ended.
This declaration is pursuant to Ontario Regulation 239/02, Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways.
