A successful pilot project has the Town of Renfrew ready to expand on it this year.
The Town has announced that will continue with it’s Foodcycler program, which offers an electric countertop food composter to residents at a discount.
The Foodcycler dries and grinds food waste into an odourless, nutrient dense compost that the supplier, Foodcycle Science, claims is free from bacteria and weed seeds.
Residents who apply can purchase one of the appliances through the Town, and will be asked to track their weekly usage over a twelve-week period before reporting back with their findings.
Registration is open right now through the Town of Renfrew’s website, where you can also find answers to frequently asked questions about using the Foodcycler.
The second cycle of the project is pending Council approval.
