SQ officers in Mansfield attended a gruesome scene Sunday (March 19th) about 5PM where a motorist travelling on Grand Marais Road deliberately ran over a man travelling on a four-wheeled scooter.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was placed under arrest and taken to a nearby police station where tests showed that he was driving with a blood alcohol level higher than that prescribed by law.
The motorist was kept in custody and faces nine charges: “uttering threats”, “assault with a weapon”, “assault”, “dangerous driving”, “hit-and-run causing injury”, “driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol” and “driving a vehicle with more than 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.”
