It’s a fantastic result for RCI Raiders Wrestling.
Renfrew Collegiate Institute was represented by a trio of students at the OFSAA Provincial Wrestling Championships at TD Place in Ottawa on March 7th and 8th.
Ariel Gibbons’ performance would prove to be a highlight; she would break onto the podium after a strong showing that took her all the way to the bronze medal match, which she won.
On the men’s side, Cameron Fraser started his campaign strong with a pair of wins before falling into the consolation round. He would end up with a top ten finish for his weight category.
Meanwhile, Sara Pinsent would need to withdraw from the tournament early on due to injury.
Through social media, the school took a moment to thank both community coach Shohannah Smith and staff representative Deb Sutherland for their contributions to this year’s team.
