With a playoff birth already secured, the Renfrew Wolves’ 2-0 shutout win over the Hawkesbury Hawks on Wednesday, March 8th was more a matter of pushing up the standings as the regular season for Junior A hockey begins to wrap up.
Renfrew came into the Ma-te-Way Centre just three points away from second place Carleton Place in the Robinson Division and in need of a win to keep pace after managing just one point in three games over the weekend.
Wolves captain Tyson Tomasini would break the deadlock with seconds left in the first period and would add another early in the second to secure the win in front of a home crowd of 168 fans.
The win puts Renfrew into third place in the Robinson Division and fifth overall in the CCHL with just four games left ahead of the playoffs.
Be sure to tune into 96.1 myFM this Sunday, March 12th when the Renfrew Wolves travel to Rockland for a game with the Nationals. Game time is 2:30pm.
