The Renfrew County and District Health Unit will soon be serving Renfrew right from Downtown.
The Health Unit and Town of Renfrew say they are working to bring the local service hub to the old police detachment inside Town Hall on Raglan St South.
In a statement, Mayor Tom Sidney says that town staff are excited to work with the RCDHU, calling the Health Unit an important partner for the town “given the importance and impact of their programs and services on Renfrew and surrounding area residents.”
Meanwhile, Ann Aikens, the Chair for the RCDHU’s Board of Health, says the health unit team is “delighted about the new partnership with the Town of Renfrew,” adding that it’s another example of working together to meet the public health needs of the community.
The announcement lines up with word from Renfrew’s Chief Administrative Officer Rob Tremblay at Town Council’s February 28th meeting, where he announced that a government agency would take over part of the space left vacant after Renfrew OPP left for their new detachment building along O’Brien Road.
The RCDHU has been looking for a new location since last October, when they announced their lease at 450 O’Brien Road would end on June 30th.
The Health Unit says they will continue to operate out of the O’Brien Road location until that time, and add that they aim “to ensure there will be no disruption of service during the relocation period.”
