As a registered practical nurse in Renfrew County and District Health Unit’s vaccine team, Mary-Ann Rosien has been a vital part of protecting the well-being of our community during the pandemic.
Her job has centered around the preparing and running the clinics that the RCDHU has been operating since the COVID-19 vaccine was released for public use.
Even as the health unit has moved from mass vaccination clinics with strict time slots and reservations to smaller pop-ups that anyone can stop by to get their booster shot, Mary-Ann says the appreciation that the community has expressed to her while on the job has, in her own words, made her feel like a star.
She’s also played a part in getting school kids up to date with other vaccines that were set aside due to the sudden and necessary need to focus on the pandemic. She notes that they alerted parents of children with vaccination records that weren’t up to date before the start of the school year, and they’ve been able to catch almost everyone up in that time.
Despite the fast-paced nature of the job, Mary Ann says she doesn’t experience stress from it. Rather, she takes pride in what she does and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.
