Whether you’re thinking of setting up a fire pit to enjoy the night sky this winter or a cool evening by the bonfire this summer, don’t forget your burn permit.
You can pick your residential burn permits right now from Renfrew Town Hall or through their burn permit website.
Your barbeque won’t need a permit, and an outdoor propane fireplace that’s CSA approved is also okay.
However, large fires like ones in commercial, non-combustible containers or fire pits up to one meter in width require a permit in order to keep in line with the Town’s by-law on open-air burning.
The Town reminds you that violating the by-law can become costly, with multiple potential fines of two-hundred dollars each.
Keep in mind there may be fire bans during dry stretches of the year, and to always follow the town’s advice on when and where to burn in order to avoid fines.
You can read through the by-law on the town’s website.
