If you think work at Ma-te-Way isn’t on the minds of Town Council, their last meeting may have proved otherwise.
The wording of a by-law brought up for discussion on Tuesday, January 10th, was concerning for a few town councilors.
That’s Councilor Andrew Dick, responding to a by-law that would allow the town to borrow money ahead of collecting taxes which mentioned Ma-te-Way.
Multiple council members were hesitant to even approve a motion to hear what Reeve Peter Emon called a standard by-law, which spurred CAO Rob Tremblay to explain it was for day-to-day bills and operating costs in town and not to cover the project going over budget.
While there will be a discussion about the project’s price tag, which has gone well above the estimates given during the planning phase due to a number of reasons, Tremblay says that will be at their next council meeting.
Council will get a full update from the Parks and Recreation Department on the Ma-te-Way expansion at their next meeting on Tuesday, January 17th.
