The Town of Arnprior is proposing a 2.5 percent increase to the “local taxes” line of its 2023 municipal budget.
Calling the task her most difficult in a number of years, Treasurer Jennifer Morawiec explains why.
The Treasurer translates the increase into everyday dollars and cents.
The calculation is based on a per one hundred thousand dollars in value pro ration unit.
(Housing is under-assessed in Arnprior, as 2016 calculations have not been updated due to the pandemic; but that’s a case of watch out next year!)
Morawiec takes the file to the finish line.
This was the first draft of the 2023 Arnprior Budget, and final figures will include both a County, and an Education assessment which determines one’s final rate.
Meantime, Town Council passed an Interim Tax By-law establishing February 28th as the first quarterly date for this year’s taxes, when an approximated amount becomes due.
