The Ontario Provincial Police describe 2022 on the roadways they patrol in the province as deadly. OPP Sergeant Kerry Schdmidt tweeted a message saying we need to get off on the right foot for 2023.
Schmidt delivered hope for 2023, and some sobering statistics when talking about driving last year in the province.
The Sergeant says more than 350 people were killed in collisions across the province. When boating and off road collisions are factored in, the number rises to 423. It wasn’t just cars and trucks either: 44 motorcycle riders, 29 pedestrians and 12 cyclists were killed last year.
