With indiscriminate bombings, missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, two Rotary Clubs- one in Kharkiv, and in the Ottawa area, the Rotary Club of Arnprior, are combining forces with a view to provide warm winter blankets for the populations under attack.
Rotarian Gerhard Peters explains.
It’s part of a District effort involving Rotary in western Quebec, eastern Ontario and northeastern New York State.
The Rotary District has been challenged to fund 10 thousand of these blankets, and Peters thinks 1000 is a goodly number the local club can handle.
The goals are threefold: the tailoring of warm waterproof blankets for people in difficult life circumstances- whether this includes staying in a bomb shelter or at one of Ukraine’s collective heating points; the fundraising of forty dollars to tailor each blanket; the production of the blankets (by the Ukrainian firm Kentavr) and their distribution to the folks in need.
It will warm your heart to give one or more of these snug three layer blankets made of external waterproof fabric, sintapon and coat fabric measuring two metres by 1.5 metres.
Your donation will contribute to production and distribution.
