Renfrew’s Town Hall will keep its flags at half mast on Tuesday, December 20th as they remember former mayor Bill Ringrose.
Former Mayor Sandi Heins says Ringrose was committed to the municipality as both a Councilor and Mayor over a 17 year span and she appreciates him for his wisdom and enthusiasm to help.
Heins adds that the legacy of Bill Ringrose is woven in many parts of the town, and that he was vital in the development of the town’s sewage treatment plant as well as handling the split of Renfrew’s Hydro commissions.
In a statement, current Mayor Tom Sidney tells myFM that Ringrose served the community “with dedication, commitment, and gracious leadership” as a member of Town Council.
Sidney would go on to say that Ringrose’s “legacy and leadership continue to shape our town today” as the staff at Town Hall offer their “sincere condolences to his family and the community.”
Both Heins and Sidney note that Ringrose will be missed in many ways, including his thousands of games refereeing for local minor hockey and his tireless efforts with the Rotary Club.
A funeral mass for Ringrose has been scheduled at St. Francis Xavier Church on Tuesday, December 20th at 10:30am.
