Tallest white pine at Gillies Grove
Can’t afford a tank of gas to see the autumn leave on Tatlock Road? Why not take a hike in Gillies Grove?
In June, the Nature Conservancy of Canada re-opened its Gillies Grove Nature Reserve in Arnprior to the public.
The site was closed after the destructive derecho storm that went through parts of Ontario on May 21st.
NCC spokesperson Andrew Holland tells myFM that a walk on one of the four nature trails may be a perfect prescription.
Holland says locals are proud the natural wonder is in the heart of the community.
The NCC says citizens and residents have a responsibility to be the eyes of the NCC in warding off abuses within the nature reserve.
The NCC, contrary to public belief, is not an arm of the Federal Government, (what you’re thinking of is the National Capital Commission), it is a not-for-profit that would appreciate your patronage.
