The lone departure from town council in Horton says he needed to pick a focus and chose family.
Lane Cleroux reached out to myFM to extend his thanks to community, friends, and family that supported him during his four years on council.
He explains that getting married and having two young sons enter his life has changed his priorities since being elected back in 2018, and that he felt he didn’t have enough time to put 100% into being both a member of municipal government and a dad.
Cleroux adds that working through the 2019 flood followed by the pandemic made for what was probably the most challenging term that Horton’s council has faced, but points to keeping taxes low and rehabilitating the town’s roads as key high points during those four years.
His seat on council was filled during Monday’s election by Daina Proctor, who joins re-elected councilors Tom Webster, Doug Humphries, and Glen Campbell.
Horton Mayor David Bennett was acclaimed to his role at the start of the campaign.
